Mark Ingram, two other Alabama standouts heading to 2026 CFB Hall of Fame

Three representatives of the University of Alabama football program are on the ballot for the 2026 College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Ga.

Mark Ingram (running back), DeMeco Ryans (linebacker), and Dennis Franchione (head coach) are the honorees going in. Ingram, who played for the Crimson Tide from 2008 to 2010, became the school’s first-ever Heisman Trophy winner in 2009. He had an incredible season with 1,678 rushing yards, 334 receiving yards, and 20 total touchdowns. Ingram pushed Alabama’s offense to a Southeastern Conference Championship and a BCS National Championship.

He earned first-team All-SEC, Sporting News Player of the Year, SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Year, and Unanimous All-American honors in 2009. Ingram stands seventh all-time in school history for career rushing yards (3,261) and tied for second in career touchdowns (42).

Ryans, a native of Bessemer, Ala., played at Alabama from 2002-05.

He is one of the best linebackers in Tide football history, earning first-team All-SEC honors, SEC Defensive Player of Year, Unanimous All-American honors, and Lott IMPACT Trophy winner for the 2005 season. Ryans is now a successful head coach for the Houston Texans in the NFL.

Franchione spent two seasons (2001-02) as Alabama’s head coach.

He guided the Crimson Tide to a 7-5 record that included a victory in the Independence Bowl and propelled Alabama to a 10-3 record in the following season. Franchione left the Tide for Texas A&M because of sanctions coming to UA after the Mike DuBose era, but still had success.
