Derrick Henry signs record-breaking contract extension for Ravens

He continues to snatch souls from defenders, while pocketing big money.

Derrick Henry has become the exception for a running back in the National Football League at 30 or older. Most fear that position is on the downturn of a career at 30; however, Henry is destroying stereotypes in front of our eyes. The impressive specimen from Yulee (Fla.) dominated in his 10th NFL season in 2024 and first with the Baltimore Ravens.

Lamar Jackson is the star, but tell that to opposing defensive linemen, linebackers, and defensive backs who got trampled by Henry. He posted a sixth 1,000-yard plus rushing season for his career, totaling 1,921 yards and 16 touchdowns on 325 carries. The 6-foot-2, 247-pounder averaged a career-best 5.9 yards per rushing attempt to earn a fifth Pro Bowl honor.

Henry finished second in the league for rushing yards, falling 84 yards of his third NFL rushing championship.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Baltimore is all-in with Henry. The organization offered him a two-year contract extension worth $30 million. Henry gets $25 million fully guaranteed over the next two seasons, making his contract the largest deal in history for any running back over 30 years old. He accomplished a lot at the University of Alabama and has continued to excel in the pros. A Super Bowl ring is the lone thing Henry is missing from his massive trophy case.
