Former Alabama DB Malachi Moore standing out in Jets rookie minicamp

He meant everything to the University of Alabama, but Crimson Tide fans are even more excited to watch him in the National Football League.

Malachi Moore, a native of Trussville, Ala., was selected in the fourth round of the NFL Draft by the New York Jets. The former Alabama safety was a three-time Southeastern Conference Champion (2020-21, 2023) and a 2020 College Football Playoff National Champion.

Alabama QB could ‘soar up’ 2026 NFL Draft boards with good year

He was a defensive leader throughout his career, including a team captain in 2024.

Moore finished with 70 tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack, eight pass breakups (team-high), three quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, and two interceptions. His instincts and ball skills are standing out in rookie minicamp for the Jets. Now wearing No. 27, Moore looks to make an impact on defense and special teams for a head coach — Aaron Glenn — who had his former Alabama teammate, Brian Branch, during his time as a defensive coordinator for Detroit.

It is about to get really fun to watch Moore’s development in New York.
