Alabama Can’t Afford to Miss on 2027’s Top WR Monshun Sales

Every recruiting cycle, there’s always that one player a program simply cannot let slip away. For Alabama’s 2027 class, that player is unquestionably Monshun Sales — the No. 1 wide receiver in the nation according to On3.

His nickname among players and coaches? “Bama.” That says everything you need to know.

Alabama Offers Monshun Sales

On May 13th, Alabama wide receivers coach JaMarcus Shepard made the trip to Indianapolis, Indiana, to personally deliver an offer to Sales at Lawrence North High School. The message was clear: the Crimson Tide are all-in on landing him.

“Growing up, it was my dream school,” Sales told On3. “I mean, I’m from Alabama too, so all of my family is down there. And Coach Shep is such a great coach and person. He is someone you wanna be coached by.”

That kind of connection — both emotionally and geographically — can be a game-changer in today’s recruiting landscape.

A Rare Talent With Crimson Ties

At 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds, Sales already looks like a college-ready receiver. He’s got the size, the speed, and the production to match, and there’s a reason many consider him the most dominant WR prospect in his class. He hauled in 34 receptions for 568 yards and seven touchdowns as a sophomore, and his stock is only rising.

Given his talent, ties to the state, and clear interest in the program, this feels like a recruitment Alabama can’t afford to fumble — not after missing on other in-state stars like Peter Woods.

The Pressure Is On

Make no mistake: the pressure is on this staff to close the deal. With SEC rivals and national powerhouses already circling, the Crimson Tide need to prioritize locking in Sales early. Letting another blue-chip prospect with deep Alabama roots get away would be a huge blow.

Coach Shepard and company have laid the groundwork. Now it’s about sealing the deal before other schools can even become a serious part of the conversation.

If Alabama wants to make a statement in 2027, it starts with Monshun Sales.
