Alabama OL says Tide OC Ryan Grubb will ‘light Mfers up’

He finally said “yes” the University of Alabama football program as its offensive coordinator after initially saying “no” to Nick Saban in 2023 and his friend, Kalen DeBoer, last year.

Ryan Grubb decided now is the time for him to team up with DeBoer after the success they created at Sioux Falls (three NAIA Championships), Fresno State, and Washington.

Alabama WR Germie Bernard very candid about 2024 season, calling it ‘ass’

The duo popped a 3,000-plus yard quarterback in Jake Haener at Fresno State, while mentoring a two-time 4,000-yard passer in Michael Penix for the Huskies. DeBoer’s offense with Grubb has been friendly to quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers. Grubb’s energy through spring practice in Tuscaloosa (Ala.) was aggressive and electric. He wants to take shots against opposing defensive secondary, while possessing the balance to punish teams in the run game.

The 49-year-old had quarterbacks taking the ball under center in spring, running backs are excited to see how Grubb will feature them, and receivers were perked up. A transfer offensive lineman from Texas A&M had the best compliment for Grubb. Kam Dewberry is battling for an opportunity to start at one of two guard positions. He played in 32 games across three seasons (2022-24) for the Aggies, but he’s made his presence felt on a young Crimson Tide team.

“Man, I’m going to say this … he [Grubb] is going to light Mfers up,” Dewberry said on The Bama Standard show. “That is where I am going to leave it at. He is going to light them up.”

Dewberry made the comment at the 38:20 mark of the show, but he is extremely pumped about being part of this offense. Grubb produced multiple NFL wide receivers with Jalen McMillan, Rome Odunze, and Ja’Lynn Polk. His offense also helped Dillon Johnson to 1,195 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns at Washington. Grubb has even more talent at Alabama from the quarterback room to the wide receiving corps. Fans want to know if he’s a cut above like Lane Kiffin, Michael Locksley, and Steve Sarkisian were. We will find out in the upcoming fall.
